The coffee

What is Keriko coffee?

Keriko is a Cuban-style coffee brand from Miami. Our Cremosito blend is a USDA Organic, OU Kosher dark roast (intensity 11 of 12) sold in aluminum capsules for Nespresso® Original Line machines, roasted in Northern Italy to the bold profile of a Miami ventanita cafecito.

Is Keriko coffee from Cuba?

No. Keriko is Cuban-style, not Cuban-origin. Our beans come from estates in South America and Central Africa and are roasted in Northern Italy to a Cuban-style dark roast profile. Nothing in Keriko is sourced from Cuba.

What does Cremosito taste like?

Cremosito is a 50% Arabica / 50% Robusta dark roast with notes of dark chocolate and roasted wood, medium acidity, medium bitterness and a thick, persistent crema — strong enough to stand up to sugar and milk.

Is Keriko organic and kosher?

Yes. Keriko Cremosito capsules are certified USDA Organic and OU Kosher. They are also gluten-free and dairy-free, with no added sugar and no preservatives.

How much caffeine is in a Keriko capsule?

Keriko is a 50% Robusta blend, and Robusta naturally carries more caffeine than Arabica, so expect a stronger kick than an all-Arabica capsule. Caffeine varies by cup size and extraction; a short espresso is the most concentrated way to drink it.

Capsules & machines

Which machines do Keriko capsules work with?

Keriko capsules fit Nespresso® Original Line machines, including Essenza Mini, Essenza Plus, Pixie, CitiZ, Inissia, Lattissima, Creatista and the KitchenAid capsule machine. Keriko is not affiliated with Nespresso.

Do Keriko pods work in Nespresso Vertuo machines?

No. Vertuo machines use a different capsule shape and barcode system. Keriko capsules work only in Nespresso® Original Line machines.

Are Keriko capsules recyclable?

Keriko capsules are made of aluminum, which is recyclable where your local program accepts small aluminum items. Check your local recycling rules; some programs require you to empty the coffee grounds first.

Which size should I buy, 50 or 200 capsules?

The 50-capsule box is the easiest way to try Cremosito. The 200-capsule value pack (four sealed sleeves of 50) has the lowest cost per capsule and suits households or offices that drink coffee every day.

Making cafecito

How do I make a Cuban-style cafecito with capsules?

Put 1–2 teaspoons of sugar in a cup, brew the first few drops of a Keriko capsule onto the sugar and whip it into a pale paste (the espumita), then brew the rest of the espresso (about 40 ml) over it and stir. See our full cafecito guide for cortadito, colada and café con leche.

What is the difference between a cafecito, a cortadito and a colada?

A cafecito is a single sweet, strong espresso with espumita. A cortadito is a cafecito "cut" with an equal splash of steamed milk. A colada is a larger serving of sweet espresso made to be shared in small cups (tacitas) among friends or coworkers.
